27 inch display compared to older 23 inch? How do they match up?

I'm thinking about upgrading to the new 27 inch thunderbolt display.

Currently I'm using a 23 inch display that is still in great condition.

Is it really worth the upgrade to the 27 inch. Screen more clear?

It is not very new technology anymore, unless you need the ethernet and thunderbolt ports, maybe a Dell is better value?
