I'm looking to buy a 27" monitor for my macbook pro 15" 2.16ghz.

The monitors I'm looking at is the Samsung P2770H, LG W2753V-PF and ViewSonic VX2739WM.

Can anyone recommend one or the other? What one is better? Amazon has the Samsung and Viewsonic for $349 delivered.

Personally I'd go with Samsung. I don't really like LG products and in my experiences, Samsung has been top notch.

Thanks for the feedback. I was in samsclub today and looking at a 22" LG and Samsung side by side and the Samsung had a cleaner look. Both were displaying the same image. This could be the factory settings tho, the LG might look just as good with a few little changes. I know they are different models 22" vs 27" but that's all they had in stock ;)

That being said I'm still interested in hearing from others before I make my purchase.

I found this to compare the two, http://www.all-monitors.com/compares/viewsonic_vx2739wm_vs_samsung_syncmaster_p2770h
I like that the samsung only uses 50W vs 70W with the Viewsonic. Not interested in the speakers the ViewSonic brings to the table but the USB ports are always nice for my external drives.

And Samsung stands for 3 stars.

But your best bet is Samsung. They tend to have much better displays overall from PC monitors to HDTVs.

Go with Samsung

I went with the Samsung. I'll let you know how I like it. Should arrive Wednesday.

My Samsung monitor arrived about an hour ago. I just calibrated the monitor so the colors are to my liking (display seems a bit bright still, light wise).

Problem is.. I have a mirror effect on the top of the screen displaying my menu twice. I attached a picture taken with my iphone. I noticed in the monitor menu it won't let me adjust the height of the display, it has the option but it does not allow you to select it. Any ideas for a fix?

I know on my dads Samsung 24" monitor, it has a similar appearance but is actually just a reflection on the casing around the screen. That probably isn't the case since you've taken pictures and looked it over, but i just thought i'd mention it.

I think you're right. It's how I'm sitting. Seems the Samsung has a deep edge around the monitor thats very glossy.

Hi,
So how did it go with the Samsung ?

I'm looking to buy a 27" monitor for my macbook pro too.
Im checking those with full HD, LCD LED, monitor / tv ones.
Samsung or LG.

thanks

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770H monitor is great. It's no Apple Display but still great quality and a sharp picture. You get use to the high gloss corner of the screen. Makes it look like you have two top menu bars.

Good buy for the money.
