Today we're releasing the OS X universal binary patch for Warcraft III. It is available as an automatic patch by connecting to battle.net.

Now my MacBook Pro handles full 100 vs 100 + buffed fights.

Thank u so much blizzard.

You're welcome!

Don't forget the /fps command via the chat panel, so you can see how your system holds up in the bigger battles. We'd love to hear some detailed reports on that.

Thanks so much! Now playing dota is like playing it on a windows computer! On skibi i averaged 100fps and on dota around 80. 1.83ghz macbook pro. I have yet to try a footie war or something like that.

That didn't work for me is there another command line somewhere? Is there a command to show FPS in a single player game?

This is awesome. Now all I have to do is get a AV video chat program that works in MSN messenger and I can get rid of my windows partition!

Excellent, I can tell performance increased dramatically!

I was able to bump up all settings to High and go to 1680x1050 (previously 1024x768) and get 100+ FPS (averaging around 130, often peak over 150).

iMac CD 2.0 GHz
X1600 256MB
2GB RAM

No idea what FPS I was getting before, but this is obviously better. Load times also seemed to halve. Previously I could count to 10 before the map would load, now I barely make it to 5! A rough benchmark, but still impressive!

That's great news for my brother, as his new Macbook arrives this week and he's looking to fill it up with games. As always, thanks to rbarris for keeping us up to date on Blizzard happenings!

I use aMSN and a friend uses Mercury (neither are 100%, but they're better than anything else on the platform when it comes to MSN specific stuff)

Yay!!!!

I've loved your games since Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. I begged my parents to buy a G3 (we had an LC III) so I could play Warcraft II because it was just the coolest game I'd ever seen. Starcraft was my favorite game for years. I've been playing War3 since 2003 and still play it more than any other game. WoW is also an amazing game that I really enjoyed (too much so, in fact, which is why I stopped).

So what I'm really trying to say is THANK YOU Blizzard, for this port, and for your ongoing support of Mac gaming. This one port may not make you much money directly, but this kind of dedication to Mac gaming keeps many, many of us coming back to you, year after year, game after game.

And lastly, thanks to Rob for always being willing to answer our questions and keeping us up to date on the inner workings of Blizzard!

I just played a 1v1.. I was getting about 49 fps in the beginning, but forgot to check it again when I was fighting and such. At 1280x800x32 on my MacBook (2Ghz, 2GB), it ran very smooth (although I did have a few settings down to Medium). Oh, and I owned the other guy :)

I was so excited when I read that the patch had Intel Mac support, I nearly crapped myself! No need for me to reboot into Windows anymore! Thanks so much Blizzard!!!

On a side note, I seem to be experiencing some sounds not playing, as well as others not playing as loud as they should be. Kinda strange, but the UB is definintely worth it!!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Man this is bizarre i was thinking of installing WC3 on my macbook pro this weekend, and then this is released. Well Looks like i will be doing it sooner than i think. Thanks a lot Blizzard! :apple: :D

I'd like to learn any details you can gather about sounds not playing or volume issues. The sound engine in Warcraft III for Intel Mac is a bit different from the one in the PowerPC version, which still uses the same Miles library as originally shipped.

My email address is in the sig.
