Wow, this is brilliant! It makes such a difference! :) I can play WC and chat on msn at the same time :D

Just installed the patch in Windows (Boot Camp) and I feel confident the OS X version not outperforms windows!

The FPS under Windows jumps around oddly from 39 - 60 - 100+
Under OS X it's constantly higher and I have never seen it dip as low as 39 so far.

Thanks Eric! Now I know if I can expect any performance improvements on the PPC side.

The point of a universal binary is that it runs natively on PPC and x86; since it already ran natively on PPC before, but not x86 (it had to be emulated), that pretty much answers the question. There are the usual minor bugfixes though.

sweet - I missed out a lot on this game because my old iMac G3 500 couldn't quite power it well enough to be enjoyable, so I gave up after a few quests.

Now I can rock it bigtime on my macbook pro, Only problem I'm having is that the icon didn't come through properly on the install - besides, I'd like to get a new, fresh icon to put in my dock anyway. Can anyone recommend a nice aqua warcraft 3 icon? I searched xicons.com to no avail...

Thanks in advance

It's there, it's just that Finder may not show it immediately. Open Terminal and type this (and hit Return) to get the Finder to update the icon:
Code:
touch /Applications/Warcraft\ III\ Folder/Warcraft\ III.app

that site doesnt say much about how to install the .bin update file. anyone have any idea?

Probably double-click it? I'm assuming you have Stuffit Expander installed, which will most likely uncompress the .bin or make it into a format that can be opened directly.

Wow...

lol, on my mac pro at full 2560x1600 on my 30" cinema I get around 155-190 fps consistently. I haven't built a huge army yet to really stress it, but had a good 50 on 50 or so battle with all the options turned as high as they go and it only went down to around 155-160.

Looks AWESOME on my 30 with the full resolution. I just wish they would give me a play in a window option so I could multitask.

Try Apple-M.

I came here with the intention of posting this myself...

but it looks like somebody beat me to it. Thank you Blizzard for continuing to give the Mac first-class treatment and setting a standard of quality that I have yet to see matched by competitors.

When on fullscreen, the game crashes when I'm trying to get into the options screen. If I try to get into the options while not fullscreen the section loads just fine.

My configuration is in my sig.

hmm..
it still freezes after finishing playing (have to Force Quit it)

I find if I sit in the main menu, and watch a snowflake go from the top of the screen to the bottom, by the time it gets there, I can hit quit and safely exit.

If you see a crash on launch, please visit your home/library/preferences folder and delete all the pref files with Warcraft or Blizzard in their names.

Let us know if this resolves the issue.
