    Hey y'all,

I have a question, and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, is the 27 inch Quad Core available for purchase from the B&M apple stores? or is online only? I really wanted to pick one up tax free in Delaware .... Also, does anyone know if its to combine two discounts? Such as education and organization? I'm assuming you can't but it'd be awesome to find out if anyone has been able to ... Also, did they officially find a solution to the screen issues yet?

    thanks!

    Mike Jett

Not sure what B&M are, so I can't answer that.

You cannot combine the discounts, they will give you either or. You have to buy direct from Apple, the stores can give you the discounts on the hardware, but they used to not be able to give it on the software (not sure if that is still the case).

There are a few threads about the screen issues, I haven't kept with that, but I believe they have been addressed only recently.

B&M means 'brick and mortar', as in a real physical store you can walk into and purchase from.

The quad-core is a standard configuration, but the i7 isn't. You should be able to get the i5 in an Apple store.

Aaah, thanks for the clarification. The caps made me think it was a specific electronics shop with an Apple section.

Brick & Mortar do carry the quad core. Only the i5, however.

Screen issues: depends what you consider an issue, really.

    - Buzz
    - Yellow
    - Backlight bleed

Out of those, most people are only concerned with the yellow, and from my experience it is going away.. slowly.

Thanks everyone for your reply, I didn't realize the i5 was a quad core as well, I'll just have to reassess the situation when it comes time to order if I want to spend the extra $400 for an i7 (tax+upgrade from ordering online vs tax free and no upgrade in delaware)

Also, is it just me or did the stats on the imacs jump this weekend? All dual core models are 3.06 now ...

3.06Ghz is the normal speed for the new iMacs. Nothing has changed there.

If it's $400 to go from the i5 to i7 because of no tax in Delaware, I'd go for the i5 and save that $400 to put towards your next Mac down the line.
