So my current iMac is starting to fail and needing a replacement, im trying to get my hands on a 5K 27in but I cant find them ANYWHERE, Even apples own site is putting them out to a end of July delivery date, Do anyone know whats going on, I head new ones were on the way but not until the end of year. Thanks for any tips!

I've been curious about this too. Seems like there MUST be at least some kind of update in the immediate future for the 27". Watching the keynote yesterday, it also seemed like they really did plan on announcing new hardware but called it off at the last minute. It just seemed like a very awkward cut from Tim's line about new Intel-based hardware in the pipeline. Seems like the recording would have had him immediately hand off to whoever to reveal the updates. Or maybe it was just a fumbled edit transitioning to the next clip.

In any case, the absence of the 27" is very suspicious. I would definitely hold off on picking one up if you find a rare in-stock example somewhere. Something is afoot for sure...

This is not limited to just iMacs. You realize there is a virus going around that affected China heavily right? I was looking to get a new iPad that was just updated and they are slipping to August for me too.

I would think they will wait until they are ready for an arm cpu before they refresh it.

I just recently bought a 27" iMac 2019 5K i5 3.7 16gb 512gb ssd 580x model for $1835 with 3 Years of Apple Care Included from CDW. It was listed as B-STOCK, but was brand new sealed in box. They have one left.mine wasn’t listed as having Applecare+ but when I got it and checked the serial it was there.

Looks like it's $1696 now

But that doesn’t discount any forthcoming intel iMacs that may be in the “pipeline” That Tim mentioned.

It’s $1796 with no AppleCare.
Also and I’m asking because I don’t know , I didn’t know AppleCare was available or A or B grade iMacs that are sold from a third party ?

They have been out of stock since early June, there has to be an update coming.

This is not the reason it is out of stock. There is a pandemic going on causing shipping delays for everything. I am looking at getting my ordered iPad Pro in August.

How do you know this is the reason the 27" iMac is out of stock? The new iPad Pro could simply be suffering from a combination of demand overflow and production shortfall due to Covid. The 27" iMac has been around for a very long time now so I find it difficult to believe that suddenly Apple ran out of stock of that one and has plenty of the 21.5" lying around. It's not like the 27" is a huge seller and they quickly ran out of stock when production and shipping slowed down. Surely we would be seeing similar or worse shortages for more popular hardware like the MacBook Pros? Those are all available to ship right now...

And as for the iPad Pro - there are some models available for immediate pickup so it's not a complete wipeout like the iMac 27.

Supply and demand. iPads have more demand so they have a higher stock and even that is slipping to early August now. iMacs are less in demand and have less stock. So COVID can affect both products equally.

Where I am even some iPhones are delayed until mid July.

Nope not in my area. No pickup available as the store is closed. ALL models for the pro, either 11 or 12.9 are in August delivery.

Gotcha. So you're guessing then? You just made some statements that sounded like you KNEW what was happening with the iMac 27 so I wanted some clarification if you actually had some reliable info you could share. We can all read into the situation what we want I guess, just might not be wise to make definitive statements that could effect people's purchasing decisions, unless of course you have definitive information that we can all rely on.

What is more likely? iMac refresh with the only evidence of shipping being late? Or COVID causing shipping delays across various product lines? The second one is more likely as Apple is not going to refresh iMac, iPad, iPhone in the next few weeks and they are all slipping to late July and early August (for where I live). That's all the proof right there unless you think new iPads and iPhones are coming too?

I have other products from other websites and businesses where shipping is getting delayed too. Its a common issue right now in the world.

It's not about what is most likely - that is interpretation. Just don't present your opinion as fact. That's all.

For what it's worth, I'm convinced SOME form of update is imminent for the iMac 27, but I'm not about to tell anyone it is definitely happening.

Not sure where you're seeing 27" iMacs out of stock because they're available on Apple's US website as early as 7/13. I took this screenshot last night when the date was 7/10:

^ I'm glad you posted that as I was sure there was another large slip overnight but I could not remember what the dates were yesterday. Here is how it looks now:

So it's only that middle config that's slipped a bit. 2 weeks for the other two is longer than normal, but they're clearly in stock.

I'm seeing August for most.
Could you post a screenshot of what you see?
