Overly defensive much? Where did I ever say it was a dealbreaker- maybe you didn't notice that I actually have an rMBP?

SetResX has been renamed Retina DisplayMenu. There's a newer version available here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/87351306/RDM.tar.gz
 
If you have good eye sight, the text seems tiny at first but after a while, you get used to it and the RMBP becomes the best laptop you ever had. Seriously.

I love the sentence you had added to your comment before editing it: "Combine it with 16GB of RAM and you'll find yourself running the entire CS6 suite all at once and working like a damn god."

the Icons are inside of it...
right click and Show Package contents then go into Contents and Resources and you'll see all the used pictures there in PNG format. you can simply open them up in something as simple as Preview.app and convert to grayscale and save.
 
Just got my retina and am running at 2880x1800. It's a little small, but readable for me. I'm going to try it in this mode for a while.
 
Anyone do the 10.8.2 update and no longer able to use the 2880x1800 resolution?

Having a tough time finding users on MacRumors regarding this issue.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Is it a free app? I was using SetRes and it worked like a champ.

Works perfectly. I guess the registration option just has more features.
