So what? The problem is 99% of the monitors everyone else is using is less than 70% color gamut. You are the minority in that area with that 96% color gamut coverage.

It's like you buy a 4K red camera and get your jollies all up when 99.9% of the population can't watch it.

It's NICE to have that color gamut but it's NOT a deal breaker.

Overly defensive much? Where did I ever say it was a dealbreaker- maybe you didn't notice that I actually have an rMBP?

Which is arguable advantage for 6bit TN panel and not color-aware apps in Windows. Still not sure if Adobe RGB is worth it, keep shooting in sRGB :)

Haha I'm just messing. Both screens are really great to be honest.

I believe it's free only for a few days, then you need to register and that costs $21.

SetResX is a free alternative. http://www.sendspace.com/file/mef6sk

SetResX has been renamed Retina DisplayMenu. There's a newer version available here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/87351306/RDM.tar.gz

If you have good eye sight, the text seems tiny at first but after a while, you get used to it and the RMBP becomes the best laptop you ever had. Seriously.

I love the sentence you had added to your comment before editing it: "Combine it with 16GB of RAM and you'll find yourself running the entire CS6 suite all at once and working like a damn god."

I didn't know that thread notifications are sent immediately, and contain the unedited first response one has posted :)

Anyone have the version with grayscale icon? Impossible to find, 404 everywhere I look.

Please send...Thank you

the Icons are inside of it...
right click and Show Package contents then go into Contents and Resources and you'll see all the used pictures there in PNG format. you can simply open them up in something as simple as Preview.app and convert to grayscale and save.

Just got my retina and am running at 2880x1800. It's a little small, but readable for me. I'm going to try it in this mode for a while.

Anyone do the 10.8.2 update and no longer able to use the 2880x1800 resolution?

Having a tough time finding users on MacRumors regarding this issue.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Is it a free app? I was using SetRes and it worked like a champ.

Works fine here. Using switchresx.

Works perfectly. I guess the registration option just has more features.

No need to return the MacBook now. My freedom has been restored.
