Ok so basically I have the option to go from 2.26 GHz to 2.53 GHz for $120.
Is the extra 1/3 of a processor worth $120 because I know I can never upgrade it.

The free iPod promotion ends Sept 8th. The new iPods are expected to be announced the next day. Buy now if you want to take advantage of that promotion.

For the stuff I do with my computer the difference wasn't worth it. But I do have a powerful windows/linux desktop as well. I would upgrade the RAM to 4GB and get a bigger/faster HDD or SSD instead

I'd go for it, not only are you getting a faster computer, you have more ram and a larger hd also.
