Ok so basically I have the option to go from 2.26 GHz to 2.53 GHz for $120.
Is the extra 1/3 of a processor worth $120 because I know I can never upgrade it.

For the stuff I do with my computer the difference wasn't worth it. But I do have a powerful windows/linux desktop as well. I would upgrade the RAM to 4GB and get a bigger/faster HDD or SSD instead

I'd go for it, not only are you getting a faster computer, you have more ram and a larger hd also.
