iPad Air 2 with 2GB offers a better overall user experience than 1GB iDevices with less frequent reloading and premature background app closures. You can ignore the few people who need to downplay 2GB and defend 1GB since they're stuck with the lesser device.

Right on point :) i concer

If 2 or 3 tabs is "tab crazy", consider me guilty of some serious craziness.

2-3 isn't crazy. As I've stated before, 9-10 tabs opened while playing a game while checking email while posting on a forum while editing a movie IS a tad crazy. It's a tablet, not a NASA certified server.

Just saying.

I found it noticeable compared to the air 1 immediately. Let's ignore safari for now ( even though that's improved as well). Do you ever use the side four finger gesture between apps? In situations like that for example, it's obvious that apps aren't needing to reload.

If you can't notice a difference you should have just stuck with what you had. For moderate to heavy iPad users the difference is apparent everywhere. The iPad Air 2 is a damn beast.

To the rest who don't get why safari tabs STILL can reload on an Air 2,it's due to the fact that no iOS device uses paging to the storage like a computer does. Everything done is TOTALLY contained within the RAM whereas a Mac will start using the hard disk as a sort of "temporary" RAM disk.

Cue the NBC " the moreeee you knowwwww" music.

This exactly has been my experience. The 2GB ram has helped with what I use my iPad for on a daily basis IMMENSELY.

Same. 7-8 tabs is typical for me (and incidentally, I DO think that's the norm, not 2-3 tabs), and reloading is no longer an issue. At all. Curious how high I can go so I might try to push it a bit, but given my own personal usage pattern, I'm quite pleased with the RAM bump.

It CANT be? The 2GB of Ram was supposed to be the end all upgrade.

Guess *maybe* safari has something to do with it after all. Oops.

Seriously - for most users the tab reloading problem wasnt a problem on the Air 1 either since having 7-10 tabs opened and currently being actively used was NOT the norm at all. Neither is playing a high end game and deciding in the middle of it that you want to hit a website or whatever the heck people are doing.

Oy vey.
This is one of the times where I wish there was a down vote button on this forum.

How is this supposed to help the OP?
He has an Air2 and cannot notice any difference from his previous iPad.
Do you have an answer to his question or are you too busy justifying your purchases?

One of the reasons I upgraded to the Air 2 was because of the 2GB RAM. But after a few days of usage then I'm not seeing where this extra memory is benefitting me.

Web pages still reload when I switch tabs.
Some games still reset when I switch apps.
Long Web pages done pre-cache so photos at the end of article dont load until i get there...
You should return it and buy a MBP.

If that was the symptoms of the issue I would agree. I couldn't even reliably keep one tab in memory with something like alien blue (reddit client). With the iPad air 2 I can do this and much more.

I don't see now someone who upgraded from 1 to 2 wouldn't notice a significant difference. The two is much faster and the reload issue is for the most part gone.

Get XCom enemy within. You will be able to tell the difference between an air and an air 2.

The difference is really quite large after living with it for a while. I have had 11 or so tabs open in Mercury browser for the last couple of days and no reloads.
