I think this would be a great product. Maybe it's just me though. I'd love to be able to buy a 24" Cinema display that's in an Alu iMac case so it would match my iMac. Of course it's purely for asthetic reasons, but it sure would be cool, and look GREAT! :)

Is there a way to rig an iMac screen to run like this other than that software whos name I forget? It would be great if I could buy a hosed iMac for cheap that had a functional display and rig it to run as a second display. Anyone tried this?

Im no expert, but I cant imagine enough people wanting that for Apple to produce it.

A monitor only imac lookalike. That's a great idea !!

I agree that it would have limited appeal and Apple would never make it. And I suppose that if a third party made one there would be copyright (?) infringements. Even if third party made one, it would exceed the cost of a whole iMac.

But how do you simulate the gradient?

...and how do you make it freeze up?

Yeah, I'm not sure how you would get around the patents on those. :D
