so got my 1st macbook 2 weeks ago had two scuff scratches under both speakers

got a replacement few days ago 1 side has the same mark other side is fine

got in contact with apple, told them what is wrong with qc etc

anyway he goes cannot gurantee you wont get another one like this but are fairly confident.

said i can ring to get gesture of goodwill

but said i can use this macbook till the third replacemnet comes

im just shocked they dont see this before they ship
 
Are they scuffs or scratches? Scuffs should be able to be removed with some IPA. Also, why do you format your sentences the way you do?
 
It’s part of the anodization process (I think that must be where the electrodes attach or something?) it’s more noticeable on some units than others but I have yet to see a 2016 or 2017 completely without those two little marks under the speaker grills...

The occurrence rate of this QC issue seems annoyingly high, indeed. But I have used two 2016 machines and none of them had it (I inspect all my new electronic devices under every possible light angle), so it's definitely not something that should be accepted as normal. @OP, it's a pain in the neck, but I would keep on exchanging.

I can't' agree with you on that one about the anodization, mainly because this part of the case has pretty much remained the same, minus the power button and larger trackpads, for nearly a decade now. Actually if you consider Powerbook g4s, this design has been around for quite some time now.

I think there is more to this than we would ever be able to know.
