This is my 3rd 2010 MBP i7. The internet is slow as hell and loading anything with a flash player or basically any media is slower than my bothers MB. The power button is like a platinum and the body is silver, the track pad isn't level, and there is a spec on the speaker that is very dull.

I called Applecare instead of going to the store again. They escalated me to a specialist and she just told me she can take a look but no matter what I'd have to go back to the store. Well she told me that everything looks like it is under Apples "standards". What happened to Apple being perfectionists?

She said to take it to a store and see if they would agree to replace it. Well, they read the notes from the case and told me that she said everything was perfect. And the manager told me that since the specialists said it was perfect he can't do anything. I asked him what to do and he said call the specialist back and tell them that it is really bugging me and he won't replace it and that he request it that I send it in.

And now I'm playing phone tag with her. My Safari is acting up starting tonight so I can just go ahead and add that. I'm sorry if I sound picky but I just paid $2550 for a laptop that isn't working as it should. Not to mention I've been diagnosed with OCD.

Proof I have fast internet. Amazon takes almost 10 seconds to load fully

Flash sucks. It makes my Mac Pro crash sometimes, so I don't think you're the only one with that issue.

I think you're being too picky. There is a point where you just have to move on. You can't possibly do this every time you buy a computer (or anything). You can't expect a car dealership to give you a new car just because the paint has a scratch on it or a panel isn't sitting straight.

Nothing is perfect. I've had computers that look like a piece of crap go for years and computers that look they're gem-mint go dead without any explanation.

I used to be picky like you are going on about every detail. That has passed. I suggest you get on with it sooner better than later.

Good luck.

and i thought i was picky lol. have u tried looking at the display models and compare the difference. im comparing your "flaws" with my MBP and the power button and trackpad is the same as yours. i don't have speakers since mines a 13".
as far as internet, are you wireless? if so do a test with a wired ethernet connection. this might possibly rule out if its your wireless antenna/internet/safari. try installing clicktoflash to see if that helps?

hope you feel better about your macbook soon!:)

so I see one tiny little spot on the speaker (have you tried scraping it off or wiping it with a cloth?)

As far as the software goes- try a reinstall of Safari or try another browser to see if it is even Safari or all internet. Also I suggest click to flash to speed up surfing- I use it and it is awesome.
My wife uses firefox and it is painfully slow right now and she gets the spinning beach ball all the time.

Also, do you use tabs for surfing or have multiple browser windows open? My wife usually has 6+ tabs open which is what brings her machine to a crawl!!! (and dries me nuts!!)

And I have to be honest, I don't see a different in the two pictures other than a lighting difference. The last pic does not at all look level with the body in the picture at least.

good luck

To be completely honest, I don't know what is wrong with the machine.

The trackpad is not flush? I cant really tell in the picture, it looks fine to me, maybe a .1 of a mm difference?

Power button is a different shade of aluminum... Is that even an issue? =O Your trackpad is also a different shade of aluminum, are you going to go and complain to AppleCare? All the MacBook Pro's I have seen have this "problem", and it is probably just the light reflecting off the different surface.

Spec on the speaker? Keep rubbing it with your finger, and it might go away. :)

"just paid $2550 for a laptop that isn't working as it should" How is it not working as it should? The machine works, your internet is blazing fast, here in New Zealand it is 8mb/s...

Maybe you would be better off with a nice Windows Laptop, some people will happily use your "faulty" machine. /sigh.

All the display models and the ones at the Genius bar have the same color power button as the body. So were my other 2 I've had replaced. It ISN'T just the light reflecting. Its the same way in the dark with just the screen on.

The spec on the speaker I've tried scrubbing off with iKlear multiple times. Nothing changes.

The trackpad basically has a sharp ridge on one side and has a completely smooth transition on the other side.

And the reason I posted it I was saying my internet speeds are SUPER fast. But for some reason it is taking site a long time to load. Its the same way when I take my Macbook to my friends house. Its ridiculous.

I am being too picky but I can't help it. When I spend this money on a car or a house I know that comes AS IS. But this is a APPLE MACBOOK PRO, I expected more of it.

Agreed

I get 1.5 MB/sec here in Australia, granted I'm not on the best plan available but still

Hate to be so harsh, but you can't expect the AppleCare to replace your whole $2550 computer, just because you do not like the color of the power button, then you go and complain about it on a forum. It's a power button for heavens sake. In fact, all the so called "issues" you have are non-issues - do they affect the functionality of the computer?

Does the machine still work as well as one with a "silver" power button?
Does the trackpad still work as intended?
Do your speakers still work?
Are there any REAL problems with your computer?

No? Then get over it. :apple:

As for the Flash issues, I recommend ClickToFlash. It really does make a difference :)

Ask to speak with someone new and tell them this computer is not up to your standards of what an apple product should be, tell them this replacement is a down grade because your other mac looked and worked perfectly. If they will not replace it, tell them you want to return it and get your money back.

IMO, its not a big deal but it's your money and you have the right to receive a flawless product.

The trackpad is not meant to be fully flush with the body.

The first MBP I had wasn't

That was then replaced because of a hardware issue and that trackpad wasn't fully flush either.

Then that one was replaced for another hardware issue and the one I have now is not fully flush all the way round either.

Here are pics of mine.

Trackpad isnt flush on any MBP. Button is a different color...oh well...that could be the way they finished, the way it was made, the way the light is hitting it...get over it. A speck of dirt you can barely see on the speakers...try to get it off with your fingernail or something and if you want a faster browser try something that doesnt suck like Google Chrome instead of Safari. I dont know why your already on your third...3...macbook pro, but im sure Apple has done more than enough if you have had that many replacements because of slow internet browsing considering that has nothing to do with HARDWARE.

I don't know if Apple still does it but when I bought my 2008 MacBook Pro I had it swapped three times from the same store, but for the fourth swap I was able to get a manager from a different store to replace mine due to minor/major defect (depends who you ask).

The first three swaps, the minor defects were acceptable to Apple but they wanted me to be happy with the purchase. For the fourth swap though, the superdrive wasn't working that well so they swapped it out even though it still worked (Sound of CD being inserted/ejected was very different from all the other Macs).

However since you talked to a Product Specialist and they have it on record, not sure anything more can be done at the local stores.

Oh and yes, back then I had a bit of OCD regarding getting the perfect MacBook Pro. Gotten over it since, my 2010 MBP didn't take it back to swap.

Yeah, on my MBP the trackpad is "higher" on the left as well. I didn't notice it until you mentioned it, but it isn't like it actually matters, nor do I care...
