Hoping one of your gurus can offer some advice.

Iv just bought a new i5 iMac with the thunderbolt connection. I would like to purchase an additional screen for it but not sure what to go for.

I would love to get this refurbished apple 24" screen http://store.apple.com/au/product/FB382X/A?mco=MTA4MjcxMDg#overview but Im not sure if it will operate at the same resolution of 1920X1080.

Iv also been looking at the screen, would it be suitable? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160591652144&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT#ht_621wt_1141

    1. Does anyone know if it will?
    2. What other options can you recommend that run at the same resolution and connect easily? Iv googled and do not seem to find anything that compliments the iMac and seamlessly connect.

    Thanks in advance

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Both output at 1920x1200, not 1920x1080.

Remember with the 23" you will need a miniDisplayport to DVI (single link is fine,) whereas the 24" won't need it.

If you can get the 23" for cheap, definitely get that one. You don't really need another webcam, do you?

    Thanks for your response tsugaru,

When you say they Both output at 1920x1200, not 1920x1080, does that mean it will look different to the iMac or can the resolution be lowered to the same as the iMac?

    Thanks

Two choices for this. I'm assuming you got the 21.5" i5 (hence the 1920x1080 res.)

On either display, you can extend your desktop (so one giant long screen, one display running at 1920x1080 and the external running at 1920x1200) or mirror it (both show same image at 1920x1080.)

Since the external display's res will be different than the iMac's built-in display, if you do decide to mirror it, the external display will not show at native res, so it won't look as good. If you are just extending it, any display will be fine.
