I have a motorola s9 too but when it links with the phone and when I try to play music, it still comes out of the phone's speakers. What am I doing wrong? I have the 2G phone, but on 3.0
I am starting to feel the same, but I don't see what it wouldn't support. It is only a change in programing that allows stereo right?
I can't remember the kind of BT chip on the first gen. You can try a search on these boards for it, or if a jailbroken one can stream on BT.
I looked a little deeper and found that you were right, it doesn't support. Bummer.
Well, for $99 bucks you can get a 3G. Not a bad price to upgrade from the original iPhone. 🙂
I have the Premiere version of that deck, the DEH-P980BT and mine has dropouts every few seconds as well. It's really annoying! I don't have any dropouts when using the bluetooth to make hands-free calls using my stereo. Only with the BT Audio feature.
Are any other users getting intermittent drouputs with A2DP and other equipment?

it works fine on Samsung SBH500 headset. i can control the volume , start pause, and play and of course answering the phone. The only thing im missing is skipping to next track and the other way around. But its good enough for me since this what i can afford ATM. i got it for 40Euro's

Yes it sucks. The funny thing is I tried in my wifes car with the same unit and it works fine. I unpaired and paired with my original unit and it worked fine for a few minutes. But after that it went back to skipping 😱
Searching the forums it seems other ppl are having the issue with various devices, hopefully to be addressed by an update by apple at some point. I was beginning to think there was a problem with the pioneer.
ok heres my views on A2DP on the iphone..
I have been using it since beta 3 and nothing has been fixed to work properly with bluetooth devices since then.
The Iphone loses sync and you have to manually turn off and on bluetooth on the phone then pair again as it doesn't pick the phone up everytime i get in my car. But the iphone does sync everytime for making calls over bluetooth, although if someone calls me i have to keep pressing the bluetooth button on the iphone to get the sound out of my car stereo, making calls is always perfect 100%
The music does skip as previously posted, but this is mainly when the screen gets locked or you leave the ipod application, try leaving the charger in and turn off phone locking.
Sound quality is very good but Apple need to have a equaliser adjust setting from the ipod application, at present i am going back to settings then changing it, unless i am doing something wrong.
You cannot control the iphone from the headunit, my N95 and N96 both can skip tracks etc only the volume works on the headunit but the volume on the iphone doesnt?

Bluetooth devices are transceviers and just like all transceivers there is a certain "warmup" period try listening to it for an extended period of time( or just play music over them and lay them down). My S9 was having some similar issues, I played them for about an hour and they work great now.... Pretty much no dropouts.....also be aware that Bluetooth is RF so ifthe signal is being blocked... I.e. Your phone is on your hip, you may have signal issues.
I had the same issues when i was beta testing 3.0 with my pioneer 9800bt...I am getting my 3gS tomorrow so we will see if anything was improved by the official release of 3.0 and the new bluetooth (assuming there is new hardware in the 3gS for bluetooth) otherwise...its probably an issue with the pioneer bluetooth or something....who knows...I also wasn't able to hook my headunit up to my aluminum macbook successfully, although that was prior to the recent bluetooth updates...
I'm not so sure it is a pioneer thing actually.....I have an alpine Ida-x305 with the optional Bluetooth adapter. Calls have always been fine and error free, however the a2dp audio skips for me every 30-40sec as well. Kinda of dissapointed although good to hear others have same problem (sorry) so maybe it will be fixed. Audio quality otherwise was rather good, my only other complaint was not being able to skip tracks...although I wouldn't mind as long as the audio dropouts went away! Hopefully apple takes a look at this....

Apple currently seems to have the bluetooth bitrate set too low (makes my music sound like less than 128 kbps stereo MP3s). I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 that sounded really good on my T-Mobile Dash (after I hacked the bitrate) and sounds GREAT with my iCombi iPod adapter I bought from Oakley. By that I mean comparable to a very decent set of wired headphones. I've done song comparisons between my iCombi and the 3G and the 3G is unbearable for long periods of time.
Also, the range appears to be really limited compared to other devices I've used my headset with. I've tried keeping my phone in my back pocket and it just cuts out way too much (with the "receiver" part of my headset in front of me). iCombi doesn't do the same.
I'm hoping the 3GS fixes some of it. If not maybe a firmware update.
I just don't think we'll see anything that sounds really great using Stereo bluetooth until it gets fixed. It however won't surprise me if Apple releases a bluetooth headset with "better" sound quality and working controls in the future...

I can't speak to how it works with a headset, but it works like a charm in my car. I have a 2009 Focus (with Sync). In order to get it to work, I had to "forget" the car with my phone, the re-pair it. After that, I had full volume, track, etc. control, in addition to all the standard Sync controls.
I did notice a very slight lag on changing tracks, and it no longer displayed track information (artist, etc.). I didn't notice any difference in sound quality, but the windows were open, and I was driving at 45 mph.
All in all, it was really cool as a "look what I can do" thing, but I'll just keep plugging my iPhone in via USB. I get to charge it that way, too.

I just realized that the 3.0 software supports stereo bluetooth. I just synced up my Motorola HT820's and they work really well. The volume control works, but the skip/play and stop buttons don't. I haven't tested it but I am pretty sure I can take a call with these as well cause they have a build in mic.
With Apple discontinuing their Bluetooth headset, I can imagine them coming out with a stereo headset in the very near future.

I own a similar type. Plantronics is great. 100x better than motorola's bluetooth stuff. Oh and the carrying case for mine looks like a pen. Which makes it cooler. Problem is losing the ear pieces.
Just got my 3GS all configured and paired it with my Sony DRBT50 and it works AMAZING. What I've been waiting for. I didn't bother with my 3G so I don't know if it work any less or better, but I'm happy with it very much.
Headset works for phone calls but not for music
I have a Phillips SHB6100 headset successfully paired with my iPhone 3G-S and when I go to make phone calls the iPhone prompts me if I want to use the headset and if I tap on the headset popup I can use them to make the call, however I do not get the same pop up when playing music and music does not play from the headset. Oddly enough, I can however control pausing with the controls on the headset. Any ideas?
