Just Activated

all of a sudden its activated, yay! after 10 minutes or so.

good luck!

it added voice memos to page 1 and put the app that was there by itself on the second page with all the rest on page 3 and after, a nice f-u from iTunes, i'll spend the next half hour moving all apps left one page, oh well 3.0!

nevermind, i can just move that one app and i am good, good 'ol trusty iTunes

the message after downloading and when it tries to install is:
The iPhone "loopy's iPhone" cannot be updated at this time because the iPhone activation server is temporarily unavailable.
Please try again later.

In other words the apple servers are having a nervous breakdown! .. Why on earth they didn't let the downloading start at 10am for the different time zones is beyond me. Just silly to have the worlds iPhone community trying to get the new update at the same time! lol ... hope it burns a hole in someone's pocket!!

Loopy who is looking forward to 3.0 as it seems to have some very cool features and will love not having to use a bluetooth adapter any more!!!

LOL @ the impatient moaners

I was getting the activation server being unavailable and I just kept trying. No need to start with the "OMG Apple is the worst company in the world!". Now it's working. Relax people.

I thought I would be sneaky and when it said "iPhone servers are down" I would disconnect from my network (disable internet) and restore that way.

Of course, what I did not expect would happen is I would have no service, and I would get the connect to iTunes/slide for emergency screen.

Now when I connect to iTunes it says my area connections timed out.

friggin garbage.

Re: 3.0 update seems stuck...

Same "activation server unavailable error", which is driving me insane. I'm merely resentful for the buildup in hype (not just by Apple, but by all of us, really), thus I expect it to be available immediately.

To the person who was told to "try again tomorrow"...that literally would have driven me insane (moreso). In the meanwhile, I'll keep periodically retrying to update as I work, as though I'm trying to get through for U2 tickets. It's not as though the upgrade will sell out - I just will be angry having to see the reviews on every news page for the next 24 hours yet be unable to see it for myself!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/530.17)

Folks, it will eventually go through. Just hit [OK] on the message, go to something else in iTunes (Music or whatever), then click back on "iTunes store" to get it trying again.

Mine took 6 or 7 tries, but eventually went through to a quick little carrier update (Rogers).

Just be patient, and keep your phone plugged in until it finally authorizes.

patience

5 mins ago i was seething...now i am fine. after about 40 mins of errors, unplugging and restarting to no effect, it finally beeped and said it was activated...so just wait it out, angily...
