3.1.3 jailbreak - problem

(Iphone 3g, 3.1.2, Tmobile, Baseband 5.11.x something)

Iphone started acting up.... wouldn't determine my location on MAP... the Clock alrams were not ringing on time... other weird things started happening...

So I decided to jailbreak to 3.1.3... Yes I know the world has moved on... we have 4.x.x now... I'm happy with 3.1.3... many apps i use work with this FM.... and I can customize it to my likes....

Anyway.... I must have downloaded 3.1.3 from 4-5 diff sites ...
----- PROBLEMS -----

1. Ziphone 3.0 can not detect my iphone... so that didnt work
2. Redsnow 0.7.2 ... every IPSW file was invalid... and could not be used.
3. Winpwn 2.5 beta... didnt have 3.1.x option... its still stuck with the 2.x.x
4. Snowbreeze 2.0.2.... made me a custom IPSW.. but then itunes wouldnt restore to that either.


Why do I even need these progs... u say... just get a custom FM and Shift restore in Itunes.... yep... tried that... 1/2 way through ... I get an error... CANNOT BE RESTORED.... OK... I tried installing Itunes 8.0.... which wont even install cuz Itunes 10.. did something to the system... I dont even understand..... so installed Itunes 10 again... and I'm stuck....:confused:
I dono wot to do... I tried many popular progs out there for jailbreak.. no luck

I restored to the latest FM with Itunes 10... and got to where it said.. the SIM is not valid... so... I tried to Jailbreak it ... so far unsuccessful ....

My iphone screen is stuck at "Connect to itunes"... no idea Wot to do ?

Thanks in advance... I would appreciate any help
 
To jailbreak on 3.1.3, you must give redsn0w the 3.1.2 IPSW for your iDevice or use jailbreakme.com.

I have tried to user Redsnow and it wouldnt detect the 3.1.2 IPSW.... unable to recognize or something ;(

Checking out the site jailbreakme.com....now .....

WOW Jailbreak throught the iphone...thas new... hmmm... will try that first thing in the morning :)

Why would you try all that without first finding out what JB programs work with your iphone model and firmware version.
Let me just download Backtrack and try to jailbreak my iphone 4.

I have a folder on my laptop "iphone JB"
I have downlaod all the progs in that... lolxxx....

and I just went through all of them.....

sorry naive of me to think that since "I have JB from 4.x.x to 3.1.2... I would be able to jailbreak from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 ... using one of the gazillion progs I have in that folder...

Reading up on stuff on websites sometimes... just confuses me even more... every site is saying something different..

I hear you, I started cleaning out my iphone JB stuff recently too.
Just kept all the recent custom IPSW firmware files for 3G, 3GS and iphone4 and just the 3.1.3 custom ipsw for the 2G.
But yes every firmware version needs a different version redsnow or pwnage tool for example and new tools wont recognize older firmware and viceversa.
Try that link I gave ya above and download all the stuff that's needed from that page. Dont try to use anything you already had saved from before.

Ok.... this is confusing....

Once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the desired firmware you may launch redsn0w.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop."

How can I tunes update my iphone to "desired" FM ?
Itunes will update the iphone to 4.x.x.... wot good does that do ?

The way I figure it....

1. download 3.1.3 FM
2. put it through some prog and make it custom IPSW
3. go into DFU mode and Shift Restore Itunes to the custom IPSW file

tell me if I'm wrong :(

Are you on official 3.1.3 right now or not?
Either way You can hold down the shift key and click restore and itunes will let you select the firmware version 3.1.3 for example you have downloaded to your desktop.

I had 3.1.2.......I tried to (RESTORE) with itunes 10... but before it even finishes restoring... Itunes crashes every time...

I tried installing an older version itunes 8.0 which gave me a weird msg about some lib was newer version than I had or something...

So I installed itunes 10 again... and tried to restore again.... (NOT SHIFT RESTORE) just regular restore to the newest version Itunes 10 has....

I dont even know... if my 3g has the NEWEST version of FM now or not... cuz i'm stuck at the "Connect to itunes" screen...

I can't check the version of FM on the device at all... I can't even call 911... lolxxxxx.... if I was getting stabbed to death ..by an evil monkey....whats a god fearing... tax paying... law abiding citizen supposed to do now ? :confused:

it finally recognized .... iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
"downloading jailbreak data..." thas what iphone screen is saying right now....

And it reboots and i get the "Connect to Itunes" screen again... and thas about it... back to square one ;(

I don't think redsn0w hackivates iPhones. You may still need to activate your iPhone with iTunes.

Do you know whether your phone has 4.2.1 firmware or 3.1.3? you need to know that before you can jailbreak your phone with Redsn0w.

If you don't know your firmware, then restore it to 3.1.3 by hooking the phone to Itune, put it into DFU, shift + restore and click on 3.1.3 firmware.

Start over if you're not sure where you stand.
 
I had tried to SHIFT RESTORE 3.1.2 and 3.1.3

But itunes crashes half way through....and the iphone reboots to "connect to Itunes" screen

I tried installing a previous version (itunes 8) but ... it wudnt work on this laptop... cuz itunes 10 updated some kinda *.lib file... I dunt quite remember the error msg...

I'll try using a diff laptop over the weekend...
 
I was unable to get hold of another laptop....

So I un-installed itunes 10....
and installed Itunes 9.0.......

Then tried to SHIFT RESTORE to ............iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
Cannot be restored error 1015 ;(

goes back to the "Connect to itunes" screen

That is normal. Open TU and hit "exit recover", your phone should boot up normally.

Well the screen says "Connect to itunes"
I unplug the usb cord from the iphone ..... it says "Connect to itunes"...

I hold the POWER button ..... screen goes blank....
I press the POWER and hold again...and I get "Connect to itunes"...

Meaning there is no FM on this phone at all ?

And ......I am not able to put any FM on it :(

There is IOS on the phone. just follow my instruction to use TU to kick it out of recovery. It should be starting and your phone will boot to emergency screen.

Ummm I started redsn0w and it made me DFU the phone and started .... "downloading jailbreak data"...... "installing NOR"..... "Installing activation bundles"..... and now its stuck on that.... for a while... and he wheel is spinning....

I was so happy when i saw the pineapple running in sneakers... lolxxxx

Here is what you need to do next.

1. Download Iphone 3g 3.1.2 firmware onto your computer.
2. Download redsn0w 0.9.4 onto your computer.
3. Run redsn0w, when it asks for firmware, click on 3.1.2 (even your phone has 3.1.3) and jailbreak it.
