The more accurate way to sum this up would be: "previously jailbroken Ipod touch 2g / iphone 3gs can now be updated to 3.1 jailbroken." New ipods / 3gs are still jailed in.
Well said. Updates for *almost* everyone!
But what if you don't own a mac?
There is no Windows version of PwnageTool it is a Mac OS X tool only, we are not developing a Windows version of PwnageTool
and before you go on about there not ever being a pwnage tool for Windows I know,
What i mean is there is no solution currently for Windows machines
I did mine last night, no problems except most of the Cydia repo's were offline, but they all seem to be back now.
Get a friend to make you an IPSW or download a custom one.
I bought a refurbished Ipod Touch 2G which came with 2.2.1, then upgraded it to 3.1. Is it possible for me to jailbreak it?
Of course you can. I believe the instructions state that you have to downgrade to 3.0 -> jailbreak, then update to 3.1, and then jailbreak again for it to work properly.
Dont quote me though... All the info is in the link from the bottom of the first post.
I believe you have to jailbreak 3.0, then create a custom 3.1 firmware with Pwnage Tool, then update using that custom firmware.
If you update to stock 3.1, you are just back where you started from.
good point, that why i suggested going straight to the source.
if i download an mac os x vmware image will this allow me to jailbreak the 3.1 firmware? i currently have ipod touch 2g with ipod 3.0
how do i go about doin it?
should i re-jailbreak so that its a clean upgrade or does it matter if its already has a bunch of apps?
