I'm in the process of updating my external monitor configuration to run off a MBP Retina and I'm not sure if I should use a TBP + a 27" Dell monitor (that can do 2560 x 1440 to match the TBP) or three 24" inch monitors at 1920 x 1080.

Ideally, I would love to have three displays at 2560 x 1440, but it seems that current MBPR's can't do a third display at that resolution through the HDMI. I'm concerned that running a monitor at non-native resolution or having 2 monitors at 2560 and 1 at 1920 will become annoying given that I stare at the computer for 10+ hours a day for my job. Also, I really would like the additional features of the TBP, so it would be helpful to have that as part of the configuration. So I'm not sure which is optimal -

1) TBP + 27 inch Monitor at 2560 x 1440
2) TBP + 27" (2560 x 1440) + 27" (1920 x 1080)
3) 3 24" at 1920 x 1080

Any advice?

For content creation.. 2560x1440 @ 27". Or 2560x1600 @ 30". Anything else is a waste of space. :p.

My rMBP station at work has a 30" 1600p, a 27" 1440p in portrait and a 24" 1080p in portrait. When the 27" was a 1080p display, I only used it to view reference docs. The resolution is too low for serious xcode development. The 24" is now relegated to docs. :p
