I have 4 external enclosed HDD's that im going to gut and re-format AFTER moving the files
One is a "MYBOOK" (XFAT) with the computer board inside burnt up(not working)

will this plug into it and work on my Mini or are the external-Incased HDD's all Dependant to there Brand/case/manufacture?
to transfer to another NEW HDD?

thanks
john

that looks ok.

But I use this. better in my opinion. https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Exte...rive+dock&qid=1633000914&s=electronics&sr=1-3

or this looks better than the one you picked out.

I agree with Freeangel that the USB3/SATA dock is a better solution.

BUT...
BE AWARE...
Some of the factory-assembled drives you have MAY NOT have "standard SATA connectors" inside. WD is notorious for doing this.

The only way to KNOW this may be to open them up (when required) to check.

All hard drives communicate over industry standard busses. Just plug it in and it will work.

Not on some pre-assembled WD drives.
I believe some of them omitted a standard SATA-type connection, and had proprietary internal connectors between the drive and the controller card.

Not sure if Seagate did this as well.

Can confirm. I bought a WD Black series (4TB), took a peek inside and sure enough, non-standard connectors.
