I pretty much only use the weather widget, dictionary/thesaurus, stickies... and Calculon of course. ;)

Although, the Piano widget is a fun novelty.

i have the weather one, ical events, the yahoo one, dictionary, wikepidia, yellowbook, calculator, sysStat, a stickie note, and the dancing homer...
I really only use the weather one...
and spotlight, i never use, my computer is pretty well organized so finding stuff isn't a problem...

I only have three widgets installed other than the Apple preinstalled ones. Countdown Calendar, Dashflix Mini and Google Maps. I have Countdown Calendar, Calendar, Dashflix Mini, Weather and one or two stickies up constantly.

I'm sort of surprised at how few widgets people seem to be using. I refer to my dashboard constantly. I have about 7 pages of widgets. The ones almost always up are:

miniCPU usage
miniBattery
miniFreeRAM
miniHD
miniCPU heat
miniUptime
Airport Radar
Network Stat
wakeonlan
CNN RSS reader
weather
calendar
dictionary
Stickies
iClip Lite
WIMIC
. . . and of course . . . Widget Watcher

I also have miniTetris up right now
I guess I'm a junky, but I find Dashboard very useful

i've only downloaded about 10 extra ones...

i use

1. system tracker
2. earth quake monitor
3. sun location
4. baseball score tracker
5. alarm clock

Use the dictionary/thesaurus loads and finding the calculator very handy which is a real surprise,

One real shocker though, is the Podcast 1 widget. Now I don't wan't to rub any republicans up the wrong way, but being able to listen to Dubya's speeches whenever I want is a great way to make me laugh.

Edit: iTunes and iTunes lyrics are good. The lyrics one doesn't like The Killers for some reason.

Ceefax (though it's a bit glitchy) is also good. Can't get the weather one to stay on UK though?

Only about nine widgets here. And the only downloaded ones are the VersionTracker widget (not the official one, the search one), a cool ISP one that tells me how much I've downloaded and Air Traffic Control.

To be honest, I only really use the ISP one, the Address Book one and the weather one.

I have a total of 54 widgets installed, incluing the default set. Right now, I have 11 activ widgets, but I use Dashboard every day, so they change all the time.

At first I downloaded maybe, 10 or so widgets but I didn't use most of them so I deleted them. So now my downloaded widgets are: Soduku, Memory (that memory game, ya know, match up the two like images), Genius Bar, and Wikipedia.

For active widgets on dashboard, I run: Soduku, weather widget, iCal, calculator, and one Stickie (hee, bf left me a surprise sappy note one day, decided to keep it ).

I've only got 4 extra widgets on my Dashboard - Amazon UK, BBC, Macrumors and one I've just got called All Recipes - we'll see if that one's useful. 4 weather widgets on as well - I just wish they'd stop moving or displaying the wrong info :(.

Getting rid of them

how do u get rid of wigets? and is dashboard always up?

As someone else stated, dashboard is not always up. I set mine to come up when I click a certain button on my mouse, otherwise, they are hidden.

As far as getting rid of them, while I am guessing there is an easier(aka more apple-esque) way, I just go into my user/library/widgets folder and drag the ones I don't want to the trash.

Oh and I downloaded packagetracker, movietimes, airport radar, and google maps. Just started using tiger about two days ago, so far, I have to say it's been good!

You can (tho obviously with 6 pages of widgets you can tell I don't use it often ;) ) use the new Widget Manager in 10.4.2 (it's the first widget on page 1 or click the Manage Widget button) to delete 3rd party widget. Just click on the minus sign next to it to send it to oblivion

Let's see...

active:

• Stickies
• Calculon
• Wikipedia
• Google Maps
• Dictionary
• RAE diccionario (Spanish dictionary)
• Looking forward
• iCal events
• Flip Clock
• Fernsehen (German television)
• pearLyrics
• SunlitEarth
• Address Book
• Weather

not active:

• Air Traffic Control
• Fast Amazon
• Ebay Watcher
• Egg Timer

I check out a lot of stuff but most of my stuff gets deleted if I don't use it. Those for are the only ones I keep besides the ones that are active.

Ooh, PearLyrics sounds useful. I should grab that.

I've installed 4 third party widgets, Faster Amazon Search, Google Maps, Package Tracker, and RAD Movie Times. Of those I run the Amazon one all the time, and Google Maps frequently. The rest I run all the time are Apple stock ones: Calculator, Dictionary, Stocks, Calendar, Weather, and a Sticky.

There were 800 widgets listed on the Apple.com homepage, but after the iBook announcement, the number magically increased to 900.

I don't have many, mainly due to the resources they take up.. better under 10.4.2...

I have :

iCal events,
Notepad Widget x 3,
CeeFax
Google Map search
Command line
Weather x 2
Calendar,
Biobythms
Slothcam
This Day in History
Uptime

Err... it doesn't seem a lot of widgets.... it in fact, is it, in review.

I have 5 pages installed including the stock Apple ones. I just weeded out the ones I do not use (I was up to 7 pages), I download them and give them a try, and end up being a widget pack rat. I find alot of useful ones and use them according to the project I am working on.
My Most Used Are:
IMDB
Calculator
Battery info
Flip Clock
Google Maps
Asteroids
Pac Man - You Gotta love this one
Font Viewer
mini CPU heat
Stickies
Wikipedia
Whistler Webcam
Widget manager

I've downloaded several, the ones in actual use, however, are:

SysStat
Wikity
Airport Radar
Calculon
Folding Tracker
Quicktime Fullscreen
Symphonic
iTunes Controller
Weather
BugMeNot
PHP.net Search
CSS Cheat Sheet
