    4 memory slots
    6 cores
Is there an ideal number of ram modules?

    ie 2,3,4

The Apple memory guide from the previous Mac Pros said 3 slots is the best (and 2x3 slots for the dual models).

Using all the slots results in a small drop in maximum bandwidth. But it may be worth it depending on how much more RAM you're adding.
