3 week old rev.C - Is my hinge going?

So I notice this tonight on my left hinge...

It initially looked like an aluminum shaving, but as I pulled it off, it's actually black plastic.

What could this be? Should I be worried.

I don't think that means there's anything wrong with the hinge under the plastic. At the same time, I would take that in right away. If something goes wrong you don't want them blaming you for opening it too far or etc.
