Is the 30 day "no questions asked" policy mean you can open up the iphone 5 and use it for a couple of weeks and return it or exchange it for a white one later? This wouldnt really make a lot of sense but im starting to see a lot of threads of people mentioning this.

I was going to keep it in the box for up to 30 days until i found a white iphone to exchange it for. Or if i never found one in stock i'd just return it for cash. But if you can open it up then i'll do that and see how bad the black really is before exchanging it. But what if its scratched up, can i still return???

As far as I know you're correct. I remember Apple getting rid of the restocking fee so it shouldn't cost you anything to use and exchange.

Wow thats great news. What about just returning it for cash in case they don't have a white one in stock within 30 days every time i go to check? Can i just return it for cash even after using it for a few weeks then hold onto my money until they get a white one in stock or another place?

Well i won't tell for sure until i go to the apple store and test out both. I just got confirmation from an apple rep online that I am allowed to open/use the product and return it if im not satisfied within 30 days. So i'll just open it up tomorrow and see what I think. I just have a feeling that taking the phone in and out of my pocket or setting it near anything like my keys will completely ruin the painted side antenna. Thats cheap by apple.

Jesus christ, why in gods name didn't you order the white if you were just going to exchange it later?

Because after further research and thinking about it i changed my mind. You seem like you've never seen someone change their mind before...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they will take it back if there is cosmetic damage to the phone. Of course, if the phone had a defect they will exchange it but outside of that, you run the risk of them not wanting to accept the phone back

i mean, come on, you haven't even seen the damn thing yet. just wait till you see it before you change your mind.

to the OP,yes you can return it for a full refund within 30 days if bought from Apple.com or Apple store even if you used it a lot but if you got it from ATT.com or ATT retail store,it must be unopened and sealed and you will get full refund. Proven.

While Apple will accept returns within 30 days, will your cellular provider allow you to cancel a 2 yr contract within 30 days? I guess it's not an issue if you plan to replace the phone anyway and stay on contract. However, if you are doing a full return to switch providers, or just not have the phone at all, you may not actually have 30 days due to provider cancellation policies.

There has been mixed messages about the exchange...

Can you exchange at an Apple Retail Store if you had purchased it online through Apple.com?

I think we can swap in store but returns must be online?

I am in the same position as the OP. Ordered black, but after further research and photos I am thinking white. So far I feel mislead by the Apple website, but will wait until I get the phone tomorrow.

????

I have wanted to exchange my 16GB iPhone 5 since Friday because I need at least 32GB to fit all the music and apps that I have, Apple store was sold out of all 32GB when I got there. I have been calling the Apple Store in my area everyday and they still do not have the 32GB version in stock. I have been using my phone everyday but while waiting for my case to arrive in the mail I put a tiny nick on the bezel.

I know the Apple Store will take it back and swap it out for the 32GB if it is undamaged and within the return period, Will Apple still take it back with this tiny nick on the bezel????
