Look guys, I'm sure that if you have purchased an iMac, then like myself, you must have made the conscious decision to accept some compromises in gaming performance in exchange for the other benefits the Mac has to offer. We don't have to like it, but we all signed up for this!

I'm sure some of us are hoping that if we keep throwing money at Apple, eventually they'll get the drivers right.

It's not Apple's problem per se.

Microsoft came up with DirectX and it's become the main API for games on PC, and on XBox as well! You develop a game for PC and you can port it to XBox fairy easily.

Why would Apple bother with this when they haven't yet seen it worthwhile to invest in a desktop GPU card in the iMac?

Apparently it turns out that dedicating a smack-ton of talented programmers to a gaming API has a positive effect. Gaming is big business for MS. Luckily your hardware is compatible and you can take advantage of this with a reboot....

Drivers are irrelevant. Run in bootcamp.

I will when I have to, but the less time I have to spend in windows dealing with it's own problems and ever-confusing options, the happier I'll be.

Took 15 min to work out how to safely eject an external HDD in Win 7 the other day. Tucked inside a submenu of the task tray. Who knew? Is right-click on drive -> eject so hard to build?

Your alternative is slower to what the poster ALREADY HAS. Why can't you understand this? It's not rocket science. It's like someone is complaining that his Mercedes C-class Coupe 6.3 AMG feels too slow and you're suggesting a VW Golf GTI. Seriously.

It does NOT MATTER that Trinity is faster than HD 4000 or Llano. He does not have HD 4000 or Llano. He has an iMac with a 6970M. Your alternative suggestion is just plain silly.

Heya

Why is it silly?
He has already bought an expensive mac, and he want to play a game with the FULL EXPERIENCE.....So the alternative is built a new pc built for gaming with AMD Trinity APU that will in all cost less than 300USD??

Unless you can tell me you can change the iMac internals to put in the latest iteration of hardware into his iMac.....if you can,, can u pls do mine too..

The IMac may be powerful but obviously it is not capable of playing games will all HIGH Setting, thus the OP original complaint.
The trinity APU is BUILT for such a case ....get the idea..

You are not very bright are you? Ok, I will repeat it again, specially for you: the iMac of the poster is MUCH MUCH faster than your Fusion, both CPU and GPU wise. Agan: how is Fusion 'a better experience'? What would you say if you complained about your Porsche being too slow and I suggested you to get a cheap bicycle 'because it will be a better experience'?

P.S. Oh, Seb already covered it, didn't see :)

Heya

Right back at you..

Just look at his and let the article writer know how stupid he is to post such ..

I will repeat again specially for you: The IMAC is powerful but it is not a gaming machine. I provided an alternative to build a pc costing less than 300USD to play games with GOOD frame rates.

By the way a Porsche is fast , deadly fast and yet when you are in one driving at high speed you can never seem to see anything clearly eh.

All is a BLUR lower FPS,,eh..LOL....

This is what your awesome suggestion is capable of:

The op's graphics card running the same scenes achieves this:

Do you not see the problem with your suggestion? This isn't a trick question. The AMD APU is rubbish compared to what is already in the iMac so how is your suggestion feasible for anything?

Forget it; I give up.
