=) nice. But really though, my average usage time is in and around 7 hours. and apple might be replacing my phone, and I'm wondering if I should actually replace it...

Does anyone actually get 30 hrs ( or close ) of audio playback on their 3gs... Cos I sure don't...
If you're curious, this is how Apple tested it:

Audio Playback

Testing conducted by Apple in May 2009 using preproduction iPhone 3GS units and software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks, a combination of content imported from CDs using iTunes (128-Kbps AAC encoding) and content purchased from the iTunes Store (256-Kbps AAC encoding). All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.

Wonder if the "Call Forwarding was turned on" makes a big difference? Maybe the phone doesn't check in with the tower as frequently then, saving some juice? Dunno...

I've used the music going to work(about 50-60 mins) and the power has gone down 1 maybe 2%. I could see with a good signal and not doing ANYTHING else one could get 30 hours of playback. Why would you really need to though?

Mine lasts me all day, I usually charge at night. Every once in a while I'll go 2 days.

You have to get comfortable with the idea of just plugging it in often.

pretty good trade off, all things considered.

and don't forget to to turn off the sound ;)
