    Hi

I hope this hasn't been covered before, I did try to search but the search function would not allow me to search for " 30" "

Just out of interest, do you think Apple would ever do an Imac based on their 30" Cinema display?

Intel i7 core, few gigs of ram, SSD drive etc...

Have a quick boot function to act like the Apple TV device

The 30" Cinema Display is no longer sold by Apple, so I doubt it.

Did not realise that, as they are listed in the Australian Apple Store as " Currently Unavailable"

Not anytime in the next couple of years I don't think. Apple's biggest motive for upping their screen size to 27 inches was to allow for desktop grade nehalem cpus, ie lynnfield. The higher amount of surface area meant they could separate the cpu and gpu away from each other on the motherboard a bit, and place two really large heatsinks for either on opposite corners of the iMac.

Seeing as Apple is really liking 16x9 screens for multimedia purposes, I doubt we'll be seeing them go to a 16x10 30inch screen for their iMac anytime soon. Getting lynnfields into the iMacs was a huge step in the iMac's evolution, and the next big step is desktop gpus. I can see this happening within a couple of years, but not because Apple will be using larger screens, it'll most likely be from incorporating flash memory onto the motherboard as a default option, giving more space for a desktop grade gpu.

I don't think 30" has to be 16:10. Apple could make it ~30" with resolution of 3840x2160 which is 16:9. Not anytime soon though, there aren't many monitors with QFHD resolution. Maybe ~2014 or something when that resolution is more common and cheaper.

All I can say is I sure hope we come up with an option for Large Fonts 125% or 150% before we start talking about 30" screens.
