I thought I saw this on one of the threads as a rumor but I can't find where I saw it and haven't had time to follow all the current rumors for the iMac update.

Are people thinking we may see a 30" iMac with the next round of updates?

I'm sure some people would like it, but I don't see the point. At the current price structure of the iMacs, a 30" would be REALLY expensive, and users would probably be better off buying a Mac Pro. But, who knows?

I just wish they'd update these TN-screened 20" iMacs, since anything above 20" is too big for me.

Unless you want to pay $3000+ for an iMac, don't expect to see one anytime soon.

I found this on some chinese website, I think it's a PR image from apple.
I didn't really, I made it myself, before anyone else gets all up on their photoshop high horse...

He also said "next round of updates". :D

I can imagine Apple releasing a 30" iMac when the price of the display used for it falls below $1,000...

The next round will have the 9400m chipset, which can drive a 30" display at its native resolution.

People said this leading up to the release of 24" iMac.

Personally, I'd take a new Mini with the 9400m and put my own 30" display on it.

I made the picture myself, to show over OTT a 30" iMac would be, obviously the humour was lost on you...

    Merry Christmas

What sloth - you should have made the visible screen larger. I mean come on, is it all that hard to copy the screen, do a 102% resize and paste it over the existing screen, thereby making the border the correct portion relative to the larger screen.

I think it would tip over. lol

Anyways, I really really want a 30" display but now I have a 24" iMac. It was great when I got it but now I do so much multi tasking I'm constantly running out of space.

So is my only option to buy a Mac Pro? haha

Next round of updates? I doubt it. 30" displays are still expensive, and confined mostly to the realm of professionals.

Eventually, a 30" iMac is a possibility, I suppose. It would be something to see... :D

Yeah, were not going to see a 30" not only would it be Prohibitively Expensive, it would also be too large and would look ridiculous.

Sure it would... It'd look amazing, actually.

Or maybe those 62" HDTVs look ridiculous, too.

Only a couple of years ago, a 24 inch home PC display would have seemed silly, as we were used to 17 or 19 inch CRTs. Never say never, and I would love one.

Only if they got rid of the "chin". Otherwise no it wouldn't. I think even the 24" looks a little silly at times. I don't have a problem with screen size at all. In fact I would love a 30" monitor.

Honestly, it would make more sense at the price point this would come at to buy a 2.0 Aluminum Macbook and buy a soon to be announce 30 inch LCD display. That would be around $1299 + ~$1099 = $2398 + tax, probably close to what a 30" iMac would cost.

Well I saw the funny side of it and the caption made me laugh out loud.

For all you others with no sense of humour, well, hope is lost.
