I have never, ever heard of a salaried, office-based job where you were expected to provide your own hardware and software!

Sorry, but it all sounds a bit iffy to me ...

Cheers!

Hello, i'm in the same situation. Using my own licensed software at the company where i work everyday. We also have a license-agreement, that if i (for some reason) live the workplace, i will delete all my apps from the computer.

Anyone in the UK in the above situation? Without trying to address geography as an issue, I'm curious as to whether it's only certain countries that practise, or even encourage, such a working relationship. I have to say that I've never come across anything like it over here...

In my experience - I'm an architect - the "creative" world is a very messy business and it's not at all unusual for young companies to use unlicensed software. And some carry on with that even when they become more established. It's a wonder they dare. They don't do it to be evil, they are just struggling hard to make ends meet.

However as an emplyee you need to cover your own back.
