iPod 30G Video Ipod stopped working

My Ipod froze up, the screen stayed dim and it indicated that a song was playing. None of the buttons made any difference and connecting to the computer had no effect. I waited until the battery was dead and then connected to my computer. The charging symbol illuminated for about 1 second and then a large picture of a battery with a lightning fork symbol on the left hand side appeared while the screen stayed dim. Again none of the buttons worked. Anyone got any ideas as I have had it for just over a year and the warranty has run out. Thanks

Sorry to waste your time but having left it to charge it now seems to be working ok.
