My iPhone X which has been exclusively charged with Original Apple 30W USB-C charger has battery health down to 86% in just 8 months. So I was wondering if USB-C Power Delivery charging has any substantial effect on battery health. Anyone care to share if their iPhone X or XS battery health deteriorated in such a quick span using normal 10W charger provided with the phone? I ask because I had iPhone 7 previously and even after using it for 1 year 6 months, with similar usage pattern as iPhone X, it’s battery health was still at 95%.

I typically charge my work cell with via USB-C and the occasional wireless charge and have seen no difference. Currently at 97% after roughly a year.

A 5W brick is provided with the phone, not 10W.
I use the 18W brick at home + 30W brick at work and have noticed massive battery deterioration. This is probably why Apple waited for Optimised Battery Charging before including fast chargers.

I think I read an article somewhere that said that the 12W iPad charger is the sweet spot in terms of charging iPhones.

there is no physical reason for battery detoriation because of charger. Even Apple recommends using iPad charger for iphone

I’ve mostly used the 5w brick with an occasional top up via 5w wireless charger. My battery health is 100% after 9 months (102% per Coconut Battery or iMazing.

What's more important than the output of the charger is how you're charging and discharging it.

If the battery regularly gets fully discharged then fully charged with a fast charger IN THE SUMMER WHEN ITS HOT, that will definitely take a toll on the battery just because of heat.

While the 12watt iPad charger is fine to use when the ambient air temperature is cool, that charger with its higher current will definitely heat up the battery to too hot temperatures if used on a hot day.
Using the 30 watt fast charger on a hot day is battery suicide. It will rapidly degrade it due to excessive heat

i'm used my ipad pro charger for my x, and the battery dropped from 87 to 84 in about a month, so now i only use the 5w charger and only the ipad pro charger when i need to go somewhere quickly.
