Maybe the speaker itself needs to be replaced. Apple doesn't manufacture those.
I must say that I love my new SR MacBook Pro!! It is AMAZING!!! I can not be any more pleased with my first mac!!!
I've had all perfect working machines from a 520c powerbook, G4 400mhz powerbook, G4 TI powerbook, Powermac 7200/8500/9500/9600, and an iMac blueberry. All worked perfectly out of the box.
I left Apple for PC's after that because of work and all but now that I am back into Apple my new 3.0 octo arrived with a huge rip in the box, prolly from shipping but it still works perfectly, the box makes a good footstool too.
I'm loving this mac.

All my issues thus far have been user error. And paranoid leanings after reading the forums. I am trying to NOT look for things to be wrong!
Trouble maker.
Been using Macs since the late 80's and have never had a problem with any Apple product except a 15" monitor which they replaced.
BlackBook and 20" iMac purchased a month ago ... fantastic.
Mac Mini bought 6 months ago has exceeded every expectation.
Graphite G4 450 bought eight years ago, also fantastic and only replaced because I couldn't squeeze enough graphics oomph out of it any more.
Performa 6400 bought eleven years ago. Also perfect and only traded up to the G4 for some industrial Photoshop work.
Performa 450 bought fourteen years ago, also never gave me a single problem.
So ... almost a decade and a half of trouble-free Mac use.

I'm moving and came across my first Mac, the SE. Sucker still works. Wondering how I can use it in my new house.
I vaguely remember some sort of automatic home lighting system that was controlled by old Macs such as SEs.
Is this just for Mac Pro's? Coz if it is sorry for voting, anyways... I voted No because my iMac works better than it should!
I use one of my Pluses as a clock. AfterDark screensaver has an analog clock module.
I also use another Plus and a 512k as bookends.
My dad's 1 week old MacBook works brilliantly (using it atm). In fact it's absolutely amazing. Love it to bits!
My G3 iMac (8ish years old) works perfectly, runs Tiger really well.
My 1 year old top of the range MacBook Pro, however, does not. In fact it's needing a heck of a lot of money spent on it just to get it working again, and Apple don't think it should be replaced...

My G3 333mhz iMac (1998) used to crash frequently under OS 9, so bad that my dad bought a G4 powerbook and gave the bondi iMac to me! I have not had any issues since installing Jaguar and replacing aftermarket ram five years ago - my first dose of OS X. My older G3 2gb hd powerbook never gives me any trouble, and it is stuck on OS 9... not updatable. My G4 1.42 mini came with Tiger install discs and has never given me any trouble at all. Upgraded to 1 gig ram and don't think I'll need another machine for a few more years, at least!

Although ... if I might hijack this thread slightly (sorry, it didn't seem like enough drift to warrant an entirely new thread).
Howsabout other (non-Apple) brands/products that you have either nothing but praise or loathing for?
If I could start the ball rolling with printers?
In the praise corner, can I offer the long-gone QMS 1660 - built like a tank, and weighing about the same, we had three of these puppies in the first graphic design/production dept I worked in and, in six years, we must have put tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of sheets through 'em, including outputting camera-ready artwork for our press. We had an engineer out to one of them, once. Never changed a fuser, never had 'em serviced. They'll always be the Landrovers of laser printers in my mind.
When the company got taken over, my beloved QMSs were forcibly removed and replaced with Lexmarks, which I will never, never voluntarily print a document too again, so p!s$ poor was both their performance and output.
Rant over. I feel much better ... thanks for listening.
