Check your memory pressure.

You need to be smart about upgrading a year old machine. Some "upgrades" will hardly make any difference in your experience; but others might. Find out where the weak point of your current machine lies, and spend your budget on fixing that.

For example, if you have two cores at present, and your workflow is both multithreaded and cpu-bound, stepping up to a four core cpu will help. If you have a small SSD-- but not enough free space to prerender video, then getting a better cpu will help. If you have a Intel HD graphics chip, discrete graphics (or even the latest iteration of Intel HD graphics) might well improve your prospects.

But if your machine "limps" around with 14 GB out of 16 GB in use, upgrading to 32 GB will just make your wallet lighter, with no real effect on performance.

Only if the people programming your machine share your enthusiasm for RAM.
You have some good points there. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading the ram on it then. The Apple customer relations will be calling me back at 2:30PST. I’ll see. I might add extra storage and leave the processer and ram base.

32 GB seems like overkill other than for heavy photo/video work. I do quite a bit of VMware and 16 GB is fine for my needs.

Hi guys update as to whats going on, Got the call from the Apple Customer relations representative, and told him, that ill get the 2.6GHz 560Graphics 16GB of ram and 1TB SSD. In space grey I think, never confirmed in the end, but I think thats the colour...

Also the advisor allowed me to get a educational discount as well, so just paid $360 + Taxes 8.25% in stead of $400
