Hopefully by the time we are getting up here in NA, we'll have some Apple related news.

interesting! AES encrypted! so basically, nobody can get access to anything! can anybody elaborate on this for me?

a 6-core consumer CPU! wooooooooow. i sure hope that this is offered in the imacs (kidding).

6-core, 12 threads. thats impressive! all for the low price of a lung

VR: it is tuesday, after all ;)

    Place your bets

Dual processor lineup, e5620 2.4 quad core standard with x5650 (2.66 hex core) and x5670 (2.93 hex core) as bto options.
Single processor lineup, 45nm w55xx(?) 2.8 standard with 45nm 3.2 quad core and w3680 hex core as bto options.
This is under the assumtion that the motherboard stays roughly the same.

Well, they all beat the absolute crap out of my 3 year old MBP *apologises to, then comforts said MBP*

There are instructions that make using AES faster. Data doesn't get encrypted going in and out of the CPU itself (although, I read somewhere that there was something like that, I thought it was vPro, but it's not, anyone know?).

Well, at least you've got a sidekick i7 with your CD MBP.

Timeshare a new MP? As long as you're fine with paying half, leaving it at my place, and you SSH in to use your half time share.

You're right. How could I forget our favorite paranoid company.

Or maybe this is what they get for not slapping Intel's logo on their machines

Heh, don't nobody read the roadmaps anymore? The announcement date for the Xeon 56xx and 36xx series have been known for ages already.

At least we get new, usable, processors for the Mac Pro.

IBM is selling servers with these CPU's. nothing from HP, Dell or Apple. My guess is that IBM paid Intel a lot of money to get a few weeks of priority shipments. It's the way things work a lot of times
