360 HD-DVD Add On with MacBook Pro and OSX

Has anybody had any success being able to use the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive as almost a standalone player? I just tried tonight, b/c we have a 360 downstairs all hard wired in with a decent HDtv but just got a brand new HDTV for our family room and I wanted to watch an HDDVD on it, so I was hoping I would be able to connect my macbook pro to the tv and the hddvd drive to the mac, but I got a "can't read this type of disc" oh well... Also, anybody heard anything about future hacks to incorporate this HDDVD drive into aTV... This would be an INSANE HD solution to solve almost anybody's needs! What a crazy setup that would be!

Thanks alot, if this was supported in Leopard that would be great. Now the only thing I need is to be able to hook it up to Apple TV... Now that would be incredible...
