You know how it goes, they'll announce pre-orders one day at 3AM eastern time and the apple watch will be sold out for the next 6 weeks, blah blah.

Pre-orders mean choosing a size without seeing it first...

How will we know which one is right for us?

I will probably go 42mm just b.c I have a pebble right now and that is 52mm in height and does not look too big. What is the width difference? That is really what I am concerned with.

Then again the pebble watch has "wings" that connect to the band that are probably included in the height =/

    Measure your current watch size...

Mine is a Hamilton Ventura at 39mm so I'll go for the 38mm Apple watch.

My plan is to preorder both and keep the one I decide is the right size.

You're rich haha. I think we'll see something along the lines of the iPhone 6/6 Plus release. Where people will buy the one they "think" they'll like and return/swap for the other model if they're dissatisfied.

While there is no way to know as of now and it probably not likely, there is a small chance that Apple might have 'model' demo aWatches in the Apple store prior to launch to try on. I know it's not Apple like to do this but the whole Apple Watch concept is a pivot after all.

I won't be deciding which watch to get until I've seen them in the flesh (and preferably on my wrist). So no pre-order for me most likely.

I hope so. I'm reasonably confident on which watch I plan to buy, but it would be great to be able to physically compare different models before purchasing (while still able to pre-order or buy right at release).

Im very agnostic about which one to get. I am a man with relatively small hands and wrists and kind of lean towards the smaller. The watches are not heavily marketed as male/female sizes but I noticed that some bands only come in 42mm and others only 38mm. I definitlely going to try out the different models before puchase.

just viewable based on the screen you select. I'm sure there are printable PDFs out there somewhere.

I think that the modern buckle is 38mm only and the leather loop is 42mm only.

Im guessing they will cost the same. The size decision is mostly about style and probably most men choose 42mm an women choose 38mm. The 38mm could even possibly be more expensive to manufacture due to miniaturization cost.

Actually it would be the other way around. They both use the same S chip (every thing is contained in this one chip) and the 42mm has a larger/higher resolution OLED panel and will have to have a larger battery.

I have no trouble seeing correct sizes on a non retina 27" display. It asks (or it did me) when you go to the site.

Do you have a link somewhere that says that? As far as I can tell Apple's site doesn't say any of the bands are size specific.

Edit: Or is it just because they don't show them as part of the collection?

I found this some time ago. I assume it's accurate? I will likely be getting the 42mm based on that.

What I'm most worried about is the thickness. I'm sure I will get used to it. When I was a kid I had a really thick and bulky Swatch and I wore it all the time.

Update: Found a picture of the Swatch lol! It's ridiculous 15 years later! That's what we will be saying about the Apple Watch in that time
