3D printable stand for AirPods Max

I created this retro look Max stand, this can be 3D printed, and is free for anyone.
If you go to a forum for 3D printers, there is always somebody to help you get this printed.

I also created this because I don't want it to hang on a stand, and maybe deform the mesh after a few months :)

This looks cool. I am waiting for my prusa mini+ order and my APMs.

I have a list of items I want to design and print, and other people’s designs I want to print. This went on my list, I’ll try to remember to post it if I get it done.

Did you print one for yourself? Would be cool to see a pic especially if you applied the felt.

What 3d design tools do you typically work with?

How did you get the right curvature of the exterior APM cup?

There is a 3D model of the headphones, but they are slightly offsize.
I 3D scanned my headphones to get the correct measurments, and created the stand with Rhino3D.

This is the test print (older design) to test if the cups shapes were good, I jus added some small bits of 1mm felt to check the fit.

Thank you for the additional detail, would you mind sharing your 3D scanning tool or setup?

Im curious if you have any filament type recommendations for this, and what you used in your photos. And if you don’t mind, what kind of printer do you use?

Your design incorporating the lighting cable is also cool. Curious to see how that comes out. Please post any progress on it.

I use an Einscan pro 2X for 3D scanning, and printed the stand on my Ultimaker 2+
but any 3D printer with enough bed size will print this, only if you want to print ABS, you need an enclosed printer.

If you just print the object, and use it as is, then PLA is the best option to print,
if you want to paint the stand you might want to choose a better sandable material like ABS ( can be vapour smoothed), or PETG.

I printed these in ABS, as I want to paint it like the Max space grey colour :)

Why didn’t Apple like sell an accessory like this. It seems so intuitive and simple... except the design without the headphones... it does look quirky.
 
Looks really nice. I don't see it mentioned but have you thought about adding magnets to them, so the headsets shut off when docked.

There is a 1mm gap, so you can add some adhesive 1mm felt, and there are also adhesive 1mm magnet strip, that should also work.
But have not tested this.

I have no major batt drain problems, without the case.
 
Test printed the second design test version, this has a generic angled magsafe lightning cable, with a tiny dongle in the max charge port.
This work good, but I had to add some weight to the stand, so not lift the whole thing up :)

From which app you rendering this white version (Ambient Occlusion)?
 
It seems that my stand also works with the silicone covers.
this is printed by iDoogs on Thingiverse :)

I am a professional modelmaker, and work with industrial designers, and make models, prototypes, art and maquettes :)

Maybe around $30,-
But I am in Europe, and shipping would probably double he price
Find a forum on 3D printing, you will probably find someone close willing to print it for you :)
