iPhone X 3d touch popping noise?

I was using my phone before I went to bed last night. It was quiet in the room and I was 3d touching constantly in the app store to preview the apps. Then I noticed every 10-20 3d touches I kept hearing some sort of 'popping' noise. So I went to instagram and started 3d touching to preview images as well but it did not make any popping noise. Same with google image previews, it didn't pop. Then I went into the 3d touch setting (where you adjust the 3d touch sensitivity) and clicked on the test image and it popped every so often again.

Has anyone noticed this as well? To me it seems like it only does it in certain apps. Maybe its software related?

It is software related. The sound can be associated with specific gestures within the code.

It’s a bug. Been around a while. Every so often the 3D Touch gesture makes a pretty obnoxious sound.

Mine sounds like a light and quick 'tapping on the screen sound'
I just came back to using iPhones from android phones in like 5 years so not sure what issues there were on previous iPhones but is that the type of noise that were present?

I’ve noticed the same thing on my iPhone X. Scrolling through things with haptic feedback on sometimes also makes this sound.

The weird thing is that when I 3D touch photos (just tried it on 100+ photos, all over the screen) it doesn't make any noise at all.

I tested it on my friends 8 plus, and regular 7 and it doesn't make any noise either.

Because it's intermittent, not consistent. As others have Have said, it happens variously throughout using the iPhone. It's nothing to be concerned with.
