How well does the current iMac perform in 3d modelling / rendering compared to the current Mac Pro? Is there much of a difference?

Depends on configuration!

Which 2 models are you looking at!?

I would say that 16 core 4.0 xeon / 32 Mac Pro would handle it alot better than the 3.0 i3 / 2 iMac 😛

(Made up configuration cba looking on apple site for actual ones!)
