iPod 3g ipod problem with uploading

Hey,

I've used two apps (yamipod and Senuti) to upload music from my ipod to mac. However, I've tried three times and all three times the ipod has stalled part way in. The "do not" sing (circle with line through it) disappears, and the spinning arrows in the top left corner stall. Any help?
