That's the problem. People don't have common sense. Just look at all the people and threads whining about they didn't get the upgrade price. These are the same whiners who think they are entitled to an iPhone (or any other thing they want) at a "reasonable" price. Such people aren't smart enough to think through questions like;

"Who defines "reasonable"?"
"Who enforces these "reasonable" prices?"

The unstated purpose of the article the OP linked to for Apple to justify their selling prices.
