I have a MBP with intel C2D 2.33 Ghz (Calistoga chipset). It's supposed to only support 3 GB of memory. I just installed a pair of Crucial 2GB sticks, and when I go to 'About This Mac' it shows memory as 4GB. System Profiler also shows memory as 4GB.
Surely it isn't actually using all 4GB? 😕 The Calistoga can only address 3.2 GB or something like that, so why does it show 4 GB?
