3GS Buying Questions

So I've decided to succumb to the 3GS, yatta yatta yatta...

I have ordered a case and screen protector and they're on the way. Once they come and I'm ready to dash out and pick up the phone, where do I go? Is there any advantage to buying from an Apple store/AT&T/Walmart/Best Buy?

And how are things looking for stock these days? Thanks for your help.

Personally, I would buy from Apple (local store if possible or online if necessary) as IIRC, it is easier to exchange the phone if there are problems (when I went in to the Genius Bar to have them look at my screen the Genius asked me where I purchased my iPhone. When I replied from Apple he said "ok, no problem"...whatever that meant)...
