Not sure if this is allowed, if it's not I'm sorry please delete.
So I come home tonight to see a new post on the dev blog (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/) , saying something about saving the restore files to help with future jailbreaks, or something along that lines. Do I NEED to do this in order to jailbreak in the future or is this just an extra precaution. This may have no relevance and I don't need to I don't really understand the point of this.

PS I already did the purplerain thing so I'm not sure this is necessary.
 
kinda just a extra precaution. did they release the jailbreak for 3GS? As of a few hours ago it wasn't out yet. I just jailbroke my girlfriends 3G. I did it with redsn0w and it doesn't run as good as 2.2.1 did jailbroken.
