3GS on Emergency Call Screen

Hey all,

I just switched to the iPhone 4 and I wanted to give my 3GS to my sister but when I updated it the 3GS got locked out since the SIM is no longer valid.

So I am now stuck on the emergency call screen for the 3GS running 4.0.1.

Is there anyway I could hacktivate somehow?

Even after you plug it into iTunes? iTunes should reactivate it sans cell service.
