3GS -Restore problems

Hi,

Looking for some help - I was updating my wife's 3gs this evening (4.2) and it locked up on me. So I pulled the plug, rebooted and now the phone shows the iTunes logo + USB --- I plug it into itunes and it says it has to restore.

While this isn't the best situation, I figure a restore might be good anyway. I start restore, it gets about 5-10% into it and just hands up. The phone progress bar doesn't move, nor does the one in itunes. 10% in and that's it.

I've uninstalled itunes and apple mobile device support. Rebooted 100 times...I am in need of help!

Running windows 7, 64 bit.

Do not have access to another PC.

I think so, any way to tell for sure?
I've done the whole turn off, continue to hold home button thing but unsure if it 'worked' or not...

Try again following this:

Try a different USB port or wire.
Maybe a different computer if still nothing.

Trying DFU now -- link helped me ensure that's what I was doing.
I'll keep you posted.
(Also tried new USB)

Let it go through the night - no dice, any other ideas?


edit - got it working.
I made a new user in Windows 7
Loaded itunes and restored from there. It downloaded 4.2 again and then I was able to restore just fine.
