3GS screen doesn't turn off while on phone - anyone else?

It never fades to black like the 2G/3G do. It stays active when against my face, which ends up calling people, hanging up, or going to speakerphone.

Anyone else have this problem with 3GS / 3.0?

well basically it sounds like your proximity sensor is not working.
Have u tried to restart the phone and then manually covering up the sensor?
(it's left on the left part next to the speaker)

just did. doesn't turn off.

phenomenal. they just replaced my display, wonder if it broke this. i live three ****ing hours from an apple store and really don't want to drive up there AGAIN.
