I have been having this odd issue with my 3GS. If I am using any app, but most noticeably in mail or texting, when I hold my finger down on the screen, it jumps all over the place. This makes for an extremely difficult time when I am trying to send a text to someone. I've restored the phone twice, and done multiple hard resets, but the issue still is there. What makes things even more odd is the fact that sometimes the screen is fine, no jumping around or anything.

The screen thinks that I am moving my finger rapidly up and down over a very small area. I guess it could be an issue with the digitizer. The phone is still under warranty, so I could just bring it in for a swap.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and whether or not they were able to fix it on their own.

Thanks in advance!

i have the same issue- touchpad going crazy

Hi, Ive had my 3rd gen 32gb iPod touch for about 3 months now and it has worked fine until a couple days ago when it started doing the same thing yours is. the touch screen will randomly click letters all around the letter im trying to click, sometimes it even goes all the way across the keyboard. I also noticed when i play games it shakes all over the place as if im randomly dragging my finger around. Ive restored, reformatted, restarted, ect.... nothing seems to work. Ive also looked online and I couldnt find anything about it... let me know if you figure anything out, im probably just gonna call apple but my warrenty is expired so im probably just gonna have to buy a new one

Also, did you happen to jailbreak your iphone? sometimes that can cause glitches. but restoring should fix em so idk

Apple will change it for you if you are within 1 year of purchase date

Just go to Apple & get it changed. They will swap it out as it is manufacturer defect. I assume you did not subject your iPhone to Water or Moisture.

I also had the same problem trying to find other posts online concerning this problem.

I did not jailbreak my phone. It's all original, and I have only had it since Nov '09.

So has this problem continued for you since it first showed up? Like I mentioned, sometimes the screen bounces all over the place, and other times, its perfectly fine. Trying to duplicate it when I take it into Apple will be difficult since its completely random.

Cupertino iPhone Repair

The phone has never been subjected to any abnormal conditions.

I just experienced the same issue. I rebooted my 3GS and it seems a little better now. Hopefully it won't get worse again. Did you ever resolve this?
