Alright my cousin has a 3GS running on 4.0.2 and every time she puts the sim card in and tries to connect to the internet the phone gets hot and shuts off. I'm lost on this one I'm gonna try to upgrade it to 4.3.3 and maybe restore it. Anyone have any idea what to do???

EDIT: Also the sim card works in other phones. And it will go online via WiFi without the sim card.

You should try restoring and see if that does anything. Otherwise, I'd assume it is a hardware problem that Apple needs to look at.

I kinda figured it would be something hardware since the phone gets so hot. I'll restore it and see what happens.

Well the software could make the phone do that too so just see what happens when you get a chance to restore.

Alright so i updated and restored the phone and it seems to be working fine now. thanks!!
