3GS thinks it's somewhere else

My iPhone 3GS when using Maps thinks it is about 3 miles from the correct location when i am at home. My Wifes 3GS is fine and both iPads are correct. Is there something i need to reset or clear?

Reset location warnings.

Turn off 3G.

Turn on wifi.

Open Maps and it should find you.

It's hard to go into the details, but supposedly there is an error in the locations for the 3G towers, which causes an error in triangulation. Turning off 3G fixes that. Why there hasn't been a fix for this is beyond me. Sometimes when you turn back on 3G maps works right from then on, but invariably it gets messed up again.

sometimes the towers cannot get a good read, so it puts the marker exactly in between the towers closest to you.

Absolutely! Usually happens when indoors or if the signal strength is low.

3 miles out? Consider yourself lucky. The other day it thought I was in Beijing! 😱
