3gs to ios5 unlock

so i see on apples website that in nov they will be selling unlocked 4s's. i have the 3gs so does this mean if i upgrade to the the ios5 that i will remained unlocked? or will this undo my unlock, and be screwed?

Buying an unlocked phone has nothing to do with your phone's OS. Upgrade to iOS 5 all you want.

if your iPhone is factory unlocked, then you will have no issues. If it is Jailbroken and Unlocked, then you'll definitely have issues, as it attempts to update the modem firmware.
